Art collectors: a vital part of the art ecosystem
Spotlight on the Contemporary Art Society of Uganda
As a proud lover of African art, I believe that to grow the visual arts scene, Uganda (and the region) needs more art collectors. I’m not alone in this view.
Together with eight others, I’m a founding member of the Contemporary Art Society of Uganda (CASU). We established CASU to support the growth of private and corporate art collectors and the visual arts scene in Uganda and the region. We’re creating a forum for art collectors to:
- regularly engage each other and exchange information
- support each other in the shared passion for collecting art.
Our members are local, regional and global art collectors. We engage with exhibition spaces/art galleries, encourage the growth of art benefactors in the country and region, and build support structures and systems for our art collector members.
